Alone in the Dark

Alone in the Dark is one of the many black/white interracial-themed videos that can be found on the market nowadays, and it starts off on the wrong note right away (as far as I'm concerned) by emphasizing the "ghetto" angle, with a rap music soundtrack and a bunch of guys in stereotypical "hood" clothes playing basketball. Sean Michaels has the right idea for these kinds of videos, as far as Rebecca is concerned: look like you have some class. Why hire a bunch of black porn performers to act like they're all from "the hood"? Hell, even if they are all from the hood, why tell them to act that way? Do the producers of porn believe that there's some particular advantage to be gained from amping up the racial stereotyping? Do they believe that women are turned on by depictions of black guys who appear to be both stupid and uneducated? Or they just not give a shit whether any women are watching? I have to imagine the latter.

In any case, the first scene starts with Hillary Scott. Hillary Scott is one of those performers that I want to like because she's cute and really tries to give the audience their money's worth, but all too often, she does scenes which I can't see as anything other than misogynistic. A typical Hillary Scott scene has plenty of choking, slapping, spitting, and gagging, all of which turns me completely off. Yes, she's working hard, but to please whom? The "woman-hating asshole" demographic? Just how big is that demographic among porn fans? I'd hate to think it's the majority. In any case, this scene is roughly middle-of-the-road for her. There's a bit of gagging and what porn fans euphemistically call "sloppy blowjob" action but she's done much worse. She takes a couple of the basketball guys back to her room and gets her ass drilled with authority, and she seems to be enjoying herself. But there's still way too much spittle in this scene for my tastes. I wish I knew why it became so popular to see girls drooling all over themselves during sex.

Next up is Sierra Sin, a blonde who doesn't have Hillary's cute-as-a-button looks but is nevertheless very attractive in more of a "party girl" way. Again, the scene has quite a bit of drooling, gagging blowjob action right of the bat, which takes me out of the game. Nevertheless, the non-blowjob portions of the scene are done quite well, just like those in Hillary's scene. She seems to be really enjoying herself when she's getting drilled, and this time the setup is a bit more creative: she starts in bed with her boyfriend and has sex with him in what would appear to be a complete sex scene. After the two of them finish, two more guys walk into the room and she's still wired on sex from doing her boyfriend, so she does them too. And then, after she finishes with them, she walks out into the living room and there's another couple of guys sitting on the couch, so she does them too! I really like the way this scene takes the same girl and shows her aggressively going from man to man, rather than the traditional gangbang approach where they all approach her and she just takes it. It makes her into the voracious sex fiend and the guys into her willing partners. Unfortunately, the gagging/drooling still ruins the scene for me; this would be a truly classic scene if not for all of that, which is mostly found at the beginning.

And finally, we have Alexa Lynn. Like Sierra Sin, she starts in bed with just one guy, and then more guys filter into the scene over time. She's attractive and the scene is pretty well done. This scene has less energy than Sierra Sinn's scene, although the gagging and choking is not as bad so there are some positives and negatives. It's also less original than Sierra Sinn's scene, because it lacks the "watch the horny girl go from room to room and devour all the cock she can find" angle that made Sierra's scene distinctive. OK, but still too much choking and gagging.

Sierra Sinn's scene was chosen as the headliner on the DVD packaging, and I can see why. It really is a mostly great scene, marred only by the choking and gagging at the beginning and periodically throughout the rest of the scene. I wish this whole "choking and gagging and drooling" fad would go away, but it appears to be here for the long term, outside of the tame (and boring) so-called "couples-oriented" videos and features. Nevertheless, despite my discomfort with the choking/gagging blowjobs, Sierra Sinn's scene was good enough to earn the movie a bonus. It would actually not be difficult to use editing software to greatly improve that scene by cutting out a few objectionable portions.
