Le Labyrinthe (The Maze)

This is one of Rebecca's favourites, probably because the sex seems to be genuinely enjoyable for the women and because the story takes place from one female's point of view. At the beginning of the film, Laure Sinclair is riding in a limousine which breaks down on the side of the road in some rural area. Her driver starts walking in search of help, and she gets bored and starts doing some exploring of her own.

A very simple and elegant plot device to get the movie rolling, no? She soon comes upon a dilapidated shack of some sort, which seems to be some sort of TARDIS because it appears larger on the inside than the outside. Once inside, she finds herself wandering around what suddenly looks like a huge mansion. She soon stumbles across what appears like a royal mating with a middle eastern theme, and decides to play the voyeur and watch. There's a man (Sultan? Sheik?) lying in a luxuriously appointed bed and two men come in bearing a woman who is presumably the man's concubine. They soon have a straight 1-on-1 lovemaking session.

Near the end, he notices Laure watching from the shadows and orders the two bearers to finish the job he started while he goes to check out Laure, who has been getting rather excited herself. He quickly rips off her skirt and panties, before she gets cold feet and runs from the room. She runs into another chamber where an angry priest yells at her and accuses her of being a filthy whore, so she runs again.

Now devoid of skirt or panties, she continues wandering the halls until she runs into the two royal bearers from before. They appear to be working out, but when they see her entering the room they change their plans. Laure soon loses all of her remaining clothes except for her shoes and stockings, and ends up helping herself to a double-serving of cock. Meanwhile, the angry priest has been watching and seething the whole time, angrily muttering "whore!" to himself.

After she's finished with the two royal bearers, she resumes wandering the halls until she comes to a wardrobe room, where she conveniently finds some new clothes to wear. This scene is basically an excuse for a bit of visual worship of Laure while she puts on new clothes, slowly pulls on new stockings, etc. while the angry priest still watches from the shadows, still furious. I imagine male viewers will get more out of it than female viewers, but I could be wrong. I certainly didn't have a problem with it :)

Now that she's got new clothes, she starts wandering the halls again and runs into a sex slave auction. Three girls are auctioned off to a room full of men, who have their way with them while Laure watches.

Someone notices her and she's spooked, so she takes off again, running straight into a room full of old men. This scene is rather bizarre. The men welcome her into the room and ask her to retrieve some books from the upper bookshelf: obviously a ploy to look up her dress. It seems she gets off on the attention, and starts masturbating for their viewing pleasure. Unfortunately, the film starts to run out of steam at this point. Solo masturbation scenes are just not that interesting, and you have to start wondering whether anything will happen besides endless random encounters in the labyrinth.

After this bizarre episode, she resumes wandering the halls, and comes upon a couple having sex. There's no particular setup; they just appear to be a couple and they're going at it. The scene is good but the movie is running a bit long now, and the random encounters grow a bit tiresome. She then moves onto another random encounter, this time with a couple who is about to have sex. She joins them for a brief encounter before moving on yet again, and finding herself trapped behind a locked door.

Somehow she suddenly finds herself magically transported somewhere else, wearing a Catwoman suit. The film is starting to get just plain weird now, and she ends up running into some other similarly dressed people for yet another random encounter. Afterward she leaves again, but she is chased and caught by the angry priest (remember him?) It seems that he's had enough of watching her from the shadows, and he's going to punish her for her sins. Naturally, it turns out that he's angry at her for tempting him, and the only way to punish her properly is to fuck her up the ass. This he does with great gusto, but she seems to enjoy her punishment, so it may not be too effective.

After draining his cock of semen, she is ready to move on to the grand finale: the mysterious master of the house, with whom she has sex while his bodyguards look on.

After hungrily drinking up his semen, she suddenly wakes up in her limo. It was all a dream! Or ... was it?

Labyrinthe is a very well-done film, but it could have been improved by having a smaller number of longer sex scenes, rather than a large number of short ones. They also could have gotten rid of certain scenes that just didn't work very well, such as the bizarre "solo masturbation in front of old men" scene, or certain voyeuristic scenes where Laure really doesn't do anything but watch and which are fairly generic on their own merits. Nevertheless, the film still scores quite highly, even if only because it starts strongly. The fact that it starts to run out of steam toward the end is of limited importance since I personally don't think too many people really sit down and watch a whole porno from start to finish at one time anyway.
